IVF IN THE USA

The USA’s first IVF baby, Elizabeth Carr, was born December 28, 1981 through the work of Dr.s Howard & Georgeanna Jones at Eastern Virginia Medical School.. Now a mother herself (natural conception), Elizabeth is a journalist.

More American couples than ever are turning to in vitro fertilization to help build families. According to a 2014 report of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), more than 61,000 babies in the US had by 2012 been conceived with the help of IVF, making IVF babies 1.5% of the 3.9 million births in the US.
